A study permit in Canada is a kind of document that is assigned to students/candidates from other countries to allow them to study at designated learning institutions in Canada. If you are a foreign nationalist and want to study at any university in Canada, you need a study permit. It is possible to extend the study permit without limits for as long as there’s a valid reason. Some graduates may be eligible for an open work permit after meeting the requirements to complete their study program to gain valuable Canadian work experience.

Note: Your study permit is not a visa. It alone doesn’t allow you to enter Canada. You may also need a temporary resident visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA).

Eligibility for a Study Visa

A confirmed enrollment at a designated institution in Canada, such as a Canadian university, community college, collège d’enseignement général et Professionnel (CEGEP), publicly funded trade or technical school, or a private institution permitted by provincial statute to award degrees, is a requirement for applicants to be eligible for a study permit.

Candidates Must Also Fulfill the Following Requirements

• Must present a letter stating that they have been accepted to study at the designated institution in Canada.
• When applying for a Study Permit in Canada, demonstrate the ability to pay the tuition fees.
• Have documentation of the applicant’s ability to support themselves and any family members traveling to Canada.
• Being in generally good health and being willing to undergo medical testing when required to be eligible for Student Visa.
• When their studies are over, applicants must intend to return to their country of origin, and they must persuade an immigration officer that this is the case.
